E-Safety
Online safety is a paramount part of safeguarding at Dell Primary School and is not taught in isolation. Instead, it is carefully threaded and woven throughout our curriculum to ensure pupils develop a broad, secure, and age-appropriate understanding of how to stay safe in an ever-changing digital world.
Online safety is taught explicitly through PSHE and RSE, Computing, and reinforced regularly through assemblies and workshops across the academic year. This structured and repeated approach ensures children build a thorough and robust understanding of safe online behaviour, digital responsibility, and how to manage potential risks.
Alongside our curriculum provision, we have extensive security and filtering measures in place within school, which are monitored both internally and externally to protect pupils from inappropriate content or potential online dangers. Any online safety concerns or incidents are recorded and managed in line with our safeguarding procedures.
We recognise that keeping children safe online is most effective when school and home work in partnership. We therefore encourage parents and carers to talk regularly with their children about online safety and appropriate online behaviour, helping to reinforce consistent messages and support children in making safe choices beyond the school environment.

It’s essential to be realistic - banning the internet or technology will not work and it often makes a child less likely to report a problem. Education around safe use is essential.
